6.  For The Love of Earth

Metal implements, paint, and stained timber.

 2.5m - 3.5m

These works were inspired by a recent discovery of an old book on whittling Love spoon, which has a long if not short lived history in the world of crafts.

The idea of "reaping what we sow" through the labour of tilling the earth for cultivation is now a new trend sweeping the globe, but a time honoured necessitiy for most of our fore fathers.

Having repaired and remade many a handle for old axes, and shovels the idea of connection to ancestor, and implements of time to continue the good work was a main concept in the process behind the work.

Multi- disciplined artist working predominantly in wood and oil on paper engaging in
social, political and enviromental issues.

The inspiration for Frond has evolved in my practice or combining industrial man - made materials and natural resources that I have sourced locally on the island.

The combination of developing kinetic work that each individual observer experiences
a unique movement , has been a driving force in the development of such works
as Frond.

The engagement of natural forces that we have little control over and the challenge
of producing delicate works that respond to these elements - to produce a
performance rather than a static observation has long been a passion -  to search for a balance of engagement between
us and our environment.
