2013 Corten Steel sculpture, mounted on steel base
Most energy and/or movement isn't actually 'seen' other than through the vehicle that carries or is carried by it. I have been interested for some time in creating this sense of movement, unseen, in an otherwise stolid material, clay. My dream has been to work on a larger scale so that the form is experienced by the viewer on a more physical/visceral level.

Studying a degree in Ceramics in London seemed a natural progression from the world of therapy and mental health! Since then I have had a ceramic practise in London and returned to NZ 8years ago, to set up on Waiheke Island.
My over-riding interest has been in developing a visual language with movement and/or energy at its base.
Its has been a long-held dream to create these forms in a size that enables the viewer to perceive the piece on a more physical/visceral level. This has meant moving away from clay in to the exciting world of steel, and engineers.
